Any ideas what to do? Or can you recommend another program that might work instead?Ī: Lotus 123 was a software title that specialized in spreadsheet and database productivity. I use this program to produce some specific financial forms for my job, and it worked fine with Windows 7, but it's been nothing but trouble since I upgraded to Windows 10.
Q: I am having trouble using Lotus 123 with my Windows 10 computer.
The DOSbox configuration file needs to be tweaked.Įdited by brainout, 25 September 2015 - 10:19 PM.Watch Video: Wipe your computer search history to start the new year I did little tutorials on that, if you're interested. DOSbox in Linux will run Lotus 1-2-3 version 2.x same as it does in Win8/10. Same should be true for Linux, but I've not tried SmartSuite in Linux yet. So, just reinstall AFTER changing the OS. So even MSFT's own Compatibility Advisor claims they won't run, but the truth is the installer won't run if these programs are on at the time.
Part of the misinformation is that you cannot change the OS while these programs are installed, but you can only install them after the new OS is installed. However, it was true that IBM claimed Smartsuite and DOS Lotus 1-2-3 wouldn't run on Windows 7. As for Smart Suite, it runs fine in 8 and 10. I do have newly-acquired Win7 64-bit, but if the Lotus won't install I'll just use DOSbox, which makes the DOS version run in 32-bit Win8 and 8.1, and 64-bit Win10. I don't use Windows 7 Home, so I don't know about its compatibility there.
I have both DOS Lotus 1-2-3 version 2.x and Smartsuite running on Windows 7 32 Bit Pro machines. O'Mickey, I don't understand how you can't run Lotus on Windows 7. and as a consequence of your privacy being compromised by your agreed use the aforementioned product, my privacy is also compromised, and you should take the potential consequenses into consideration. Should you receive it on a Windows 10 device, your privacy will be compromised: see your End Users License Agreement Paragraph 1b.” “This email, and/or its attachments, was neither produced nor sent via Windows 10.
Gotta LOVE Linux - I do, and I'm as non techie as they come. What a sitting duck MSFT has made itself. You know how they love to bring class actions against multinationals. I hope some clever lawyers are rubbing their hands in glee at the prospect of such multiple potential breaches.
My sensitive private information is compromised because of that fact - through no fault or intent of mine. I communicate sensitive, private information with that someone. It boggles the mind ! Picture this simple scenario Fancy that ! My clients material (sensitive financial stuff concerning speculative investments) to be at the disposal of MSFT ! When you come up with your final wording, would love to see it posted here - for anyone else interested, as I certainly will be, and will use it myself. If you receive it on a Windows 10 device, your identity will be compromised.Įxcellent idea. Tentative wording: this email was not sent from a Windows 10 device.
